about risscon

Karissa (Conrad) Wiemer is a writer and body practitioner based in Chicago. Her work explores the role of embodiment and spectatorship in processes of knowledge production, and centers the idea that the body is the medium through which cultural and organizational knowledge/power structures are constructed, reproduced, challenged, and destroyed.

Karissa received her RYT-200 certification in 2020 and her Ph.D. in Sports Communication in 2021. She currently works as healthcare researcher and guides live-scored yoga classes under the name Kinesonics, a collaboration with Chicago-based percussionist Justin Peters.

A life-long runner, Karissa spends her free time on the trails. She learned long ago that writing is running is writing.
